Description

Bavafil® ASA (acrylonitrile styrene acrylate) is the first choice for technical applications that must withstand extreme environmental conditions. Made from high-quality, flow-optimized polymers, it offers outstanding weather resistance. While other plastics become brittle or yellow under sunlight, Bavafil® ASA remains dimensionally stable and colorfast over the long term.

The strengths of Bavafil® ASA:

  • Excellent UV and weather resistance: Ideal for outdoor components such as car accessories, garden equipment or housings for outdoor sensors.
  • High chemical resistance: The material is resistant to a wide variety of oils, greases and cleaning agents.
  • Optimized layer adhesion: Thanks to the very good flow properties, mechanically highly resilient objects with a strong bond between the layers can be created.
  • Heat resistance: ASA offers higher heat resistance than PLA or PETG and remains stable even at summer temperatures in direct sunlight.
  • AMS-Ready: Our 850g spools are fully compatible with multi-material systems such as the Bambu Lab AMS .

Processing & Finish:

Bavafil® ASA impresses with its high-quality surface. Like all ASA filaments, it can be post-processed with acetone (acetone smoothing) if required to achieve a mirror-smooth surface.

850g with a 1.75 mm diameter available.

Application note: For optimal results and to avoid warping, we recommend printing in an enclosed build chamber and using a suitable print bed adhesion.

Product performance

SPECIFICATION

  • ASA filament on spool, vacuum packed
  • Net weight: 850g, Gross weight: 1070g
  • Diameter: 1.75mm +/-0.05mm
  • Roundness: +/-3%
  • Extruder temperature depending on printing speed and layer thickness: 245°C - 270°C
  • Recommended extruder temperature for initial tests: 250°C
  • Print bed: approx. 90°C - 115°C for better adhesion and less shrinkage

PROCESSING INSTRUCTIONS

  • Suitable for direct drive and Bowden extruders
  • Printing speed 30-110mm/s depending on nozzle temperature and layer thickness

The first layer should be 0.3 mm thick to compensate for unevenness on the print bed. For better adhesion of the first layer, we also recommend setting the print width to 130%. The blower fan or melt cooling should ideally be set to 0. Additionally, a heated, enclosed build chamber will help.

1. General Security Information

  • Use only by trained personnel:3D printing with ASA requires advanced knowledge of temperature settings, build volume control, and material behavior. Children may only operate the printer under constant adult supervision.
  • Urgent ventilation requirement:Printing with ASA produces styrene fumes that have an unpleasant odor and can be harmful to health at high concentrations. Use the printer...only in very well-ventilated roomsor in printers withactive filtering(e.g. HEPA/activated carbon) and extraction.

2. Instructions for handling ASA filament

  • Storage:ASA should be stored in a dry, cool place, protected from light. Although ASA is extremely UV-resistant in its finished state, the raw material (filament) should be stored in an airtight container with a desiccant to ensure optimal print quality.
  • Construction space management:ASA is prone to warping in drafty conditions. Therefore, an enclosed build chamber is strongly recommended, not only for safety reasons (fumes) but also for print quality.
  • Hot components:Due to the high printing temperatures (240°C – 260°C) and heated bed temperatures (up to 110°C), there is an increased risk of burns. Never touch the nozzle or print bed during or shortly after operation.

3. Special safety instructions

  • Protection of children and pets:Keep children and animals strictly away from the pressure area. Besides the risk of burns, exposure to fumes is particularly critical for small organisms.
  • First aid in case of incidents: Burns:In case of contact with hot components or molten plastic, immediately cool the affected area under running, cold water for at least 10 minutes. Seek medical attention immediately for severe burns.Inhalation of vapors:If you experience dizziness, headache, or respiratory irritation, stop the pressure procedure immediately, leave the room, and get some fresh air. Consult a doctor if symptoms persist.

4. User responsibility

  • Personal responsibility:The user is responsible for complying with fire protection and safety regulations and for ensuring the printer is in perfect working order.
  • Protective equipment:We recommend wearing heat-resistant gloves when removing printed objects from the hot bed and safety glasses during post-processing steps (e.g., removing support structures), as ASA residue can splinter.
