Description

BavaFlex TPU Super Soft 65 is our softest ester-based elastomer and was specially developed for applications requiring maximum flexibility and conformability. With a Shore hardness of 65A , this material is highly elastic and offers superior energy absorption and stretchability. Thanks to the high-quality polymer base material "Made in Germany," you get a filament that combines technical precision with extreme softness.

Outstanding properties of BavaFlex TPU Super Soft 65:

  • Genuine rubber elasticity: The material is extremely soft and flexible, making it ideal for adapting to uneven surfaces – the perfect prerequisite for airtight and liquid-tight seals.
  • Specialist for sealing solutions: Whether custom-made flat gaskets, O-rings or soft buffers – TPU 65A offers the necessary compressibility for functional sealing solutions.
  • Extreme elongation at break and toughness: Despite its softness, the material is mechanically highly resilient. It is tear-resistant, does not break, and reliably returns to its original shape after stress is released.
  • Excellent abrasion resistance: Like all our TPUs, the Super Soft variant is also very wear-resistant and resistant to mechanical friction.

Ideal areas of application:

Ideal for soft seals, vibration-damping decouplers, non-slip feet, ergonomic soft-touch elements and complex models that require extremely high flexibility.

Processing instructions:

Due to the high flexibility of 65 Shore A, we recommend using a direct-drive extruder with this filament. The printing speed should be reduced (approx. 15–30 mm/s) to ensure optimal control over the material flow.

Product performance

SPECIFICATION

  • TPU filament on a spool, vacuum packed
  • Net weight: 250g, Gross weight: 400g
  • Hardness: Shore A 65
  • Diameter: 1.75mm +/- 0.05mm
  • Roundness: +/-3%
  • Extruder temperature depending on printing speed and layer thickness: 230°C - 250°C
  • Recommended extruder temperature for initial tests: 235°C
  • Print bed: without heating. This filament adheres extremely well to many surfaces.

PROCESSING INSTRUCTIONS

  • Suitable only for direct drive extruders
  • Printing speed 25-60mm/s depending on nozzle temperature and layer thickness.

The first layer should be 0.3mm thick to compensate for unevenness in the print bed. TPU is prone to stringing. Select print parameters to minimize stringing. With soft materials, the extruder may slip slightly during filament transport, so the flow rate (trailing, multiplier) should be set to 100-130%. Setting the blower fan to 100% after the first layer helps cool the melt quickly enough, especially on overhangs.

1. General Security Information

  • Use only by trained personnel:3D printing with TPU filaments requires specific knowledge of extruder types (direct drive vs. Bowden) and adjusted printing speeds. Children should only operate the 3D printer under constant adult supervision.
  • Ventilation:Small amounts of fumes may be released when melting thermoplastic elastomers (TPU). Ensure adequate ventilation of the work area or use an enclosure with active air filtration.

2. Instructions for handling TPU filament

  • Sensitivity to moisture (hygroscopy):TPU is very susceptible to absorbing moisture from the ambient air. Damp filament can lead to blistering, stringing, and reduced layer adhesion. Always store the filament in an airtight container with a desiccant (silica gel) or dry it before use at approximately 50°C - 55°C.
  • Avoiding overheating:Take care not to massively exceed the recommended printing temperature to avoid thermal deterioration of the material.
  • Hot surfaces:Never touch the nozzle or the heated bed during operation. Molten TPU has a high adhesive quality and can cause severe burns upon skin contact.

3. Special safety instructions

  • Choking hazard:Keep filament remnants and small parts away from children and pets. Due to the high toughness and elasticity of TPU remnants, they pose a particular risk if swallowed.
  • First aid in case of incidents: Burns:In case of contact with molten TPU, immediately cool the affected area of skin under running, cold water for at least 10-15 minutes. Do not forcibly peel the plastic off the skin, as this can damage the tissue. Consult a doctor.Fumes:If you experience respiratory irritation or dizziness, leave the room immediately and go outside for fresh air. Seek medical advice if symptoms persist.

4. User responsibility

  • Duty of care:The user is responsible for correctly configuring their printer. Since TPU can adhere very strongly to print beds (especially smooth PEI or glass), a release agent should be used to prevent damage to the print bed during removal.
  • Protective equipment:When removing stubborn support structures, it is recommended to wear safety glasses and cut-resistant gloves, as TPU parts can jump off unpredictably when cut due to their toughness.
