Description

BavaFlex® TPU 95 is a high-performance, ester-based filament specifically designed for demanding technical prototypes and industrial applications. With a Shore hardness of 95A, it offers the perfect balance: elastic enough to absorb shocks, yet rigid enough to ensure excellent dimensional stability and printability. Its unique chemical composition makes it the ideal partner for two-component (2K) prototyping .

The highlights of BavaFlex® TPU 95:

  • Excellent bond strength: This TPU forms an extremely strong bond with common hard plastics such as ABS, PET-G, PC, and PET . It enables the direct integration of seals, dampers, or soft-touch elements into the main component.
  • High mechanical strength: Despite its flexibility, the material is extremely resilient and exhibits very high elongation at break and toughness – it does not break under mechanical stress.
  • Superior abrasion resistance: The material is extremely wear-resistant and resistant to friction, making it perfect for moving functional parts.
  • Precise printing behavior: The hardness of 95A ensures very good guidance in the extruder, resulting in a clean print image and reduced stringing.
  • AMS-Ready: Thanks to its high inherent stiffness, TPU 95 is generally well compatible with multi-material systems such as the Bambu Lab AMS .

Ideal areas of application:

Ideal for functional 2-component prototypes, housing seals, flexible brackets, low-vibration handle elements and protective covers that are printed directly onto hard components.

Available in 0.75 kg and 1.75 mm diameter.

SPECIFICATIONS

TPU filament on a spool, vacuum packed
Net weight: 750g, Gross weight: 1kg
Hardness: Shore A 95
Diameter: 1.75mm +/- 0.05mm
Roundness: +/-0.03mm
Extruder temperature varies depending on printing speed and layer thickness: 210°C - 245°C.
Recommended extruder temperature for initial tests: 215°C - 225°C.
Print bed: unheated; for large parts, a print bed temperature of approximately 60°C can reduce shrinkage.

PROCESSING INSTRUCTIONS

Only suitable for direct drive extruders
Printing speed 30-110mm/s depending on printing speed and nozzle temperature
BavaFlex® TPU 95 Shore A has very high adhesion, so it's recommended to test with an unheated print bed. For large parts, a print bed temperature of approximately 60°C can reduce warping. The first layer should be 0.3 mm thick to compensate for unevenness on the print bed. TPU is prone to stringing. Adjust the parameters to minimize stringing. With soft materials, the extruder may slip slightly during filament transport, so set the flow rate (trailing, multiplier) to 100-120%. Setting the blower fan to 100% after the first layer helps cool the melt quickly enough at transitions.

1. General Security Information

  • Use only by trained personnel:3D printing with TPU filaments requires specific knowledge of extruder types (direct drive vs. Bowden) and adjusted printing speeds. Children should only operate the 3D printer under constant adult supervision.
  • Ventilation:Small amounts of fumes may be released when melting thermoplastic elastomers (TPU). Ensure adequate ventilation of the work area or use an enclosure with active air filtration.

2. Instructions for handling TPU filament

  • Sensitivity to moisture (hygroscopy):TPU is very susceptible to absorbing moisture from the ambient air. Damp filament can lead to blistering, stringing, and reduced layer adhesion. Always store the filament in an airtight container with a desiccant (silica gel) or dry it before use at approximately 50°C - 55°C.
  • Avoiding overheating:Take care not to massively exceed the recommended printing temperature to avoid thermal deterioration of the material.
  • Hot surfaces:Never touch the nozzle or the heated bed during operation. Molten TPU has a high adhesive quality and can cause severe burns upon skin contact.

3. Special safety instructions

  • Choking hazard:Keep filament remnants and small parts away from children and pets. Due to the high toughness and elasticity of TPU remnants, they pose a particular risk if swallowed.
  • First aid in case of incidents: Burns:In case of contact with molten TPU, immediately cool the affected area of skin under running, cold water for at least 10-15 minutes. Do not forcibly peel the plastic off the skin, as this can damage the tissue. Consult a doctor.Fumes:If you experience respiratory irritation or dizziness, leave the room immediately and go outside for fresh air. Seek medical advice if symptoms persist.

4. User responsibility

  • Duty of care:The user is responsible for correctly configuring their printer. Since TPU can adhere very strongly to print beds (especially smooth PEI or glass), a release agent should be used to prevent damage to the print bed during removal.
  • Protective equipment:When removing stubborn support structures, it is recommended to wear safety glasses and cut-resistant gloves, as TPU parts can jump off unpredictably when cut due to their toughness.
